JetSuite, a California-based private jet charter\u00a0company, will try its hand at scheduled passenger service on select western\u00a0routes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jetsuite.com\/\">JetSuite<\/a>, which began flying in 2009,\u00a0will debut a public charter service that sells seats on scheduled flights <a href=\"https:\/\/x.jetsuite.com\/\">under the brand &#8220;JetSuiteX<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The company promises passengers buying tickets on those\u00a0flights\u00a0will get a \u201cprivate jet experience.\u201d Flights begin April 19, with fares starting at $109 and maxing out at about $300\u00a0each way for departures\u00a0from private-jet terminals.<\/p>\n<p>Customers can even earn points thanks to a frequent-flier partnership with\u00a0JetBlue. JetSuiteX passengers can\u00a0earn 250 TrueBlue\u00a0points per segment on regular fares and 150 points for sale fares.<\/p>\n<p>JetSuite CEO Alex Wilcox, who was on the executive team that helped successfully launch\u00a0JetBlue in 2000, is bullish on the prospects for the new JetSuiteX service.<\/p>\n<p>Wilcox says fares have been increasing on short-haul flights.\u00a0Wilcox says that &#8212; coupled with increasing security headaches at major commercial airports &#8212;\u00a0has created a\u00a0sweet-spot in the market where JetSuiteX hopes to lure well-heeled, time-sensitive fliers looking\u00a0for something between low-fare \u201ccattle car\u201d domestic flights and more expensive private jet options.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That\u2019s created a space for this kind of product where we can charge a little bit more, but provide a lot more \u2013 especially in terms of time savings,&#8221; Wilcox says to Today in the Sky, pointing to the advantage of flying from private jet terminals.<\/p>\n<p>There are security procedures for passengers flying from private jet terminals, Wicox says. But he\u00a0adds &#8220;there\u2019s no TSA line.\u00a0People can show up 15 or 20 minutes before their\u00a0flight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"module-position-O71hp4_Vzsk\" class=\"story-asset image-asset\">\n<aside class=\"wide single-photo\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/-mm-\/eee25ed19149c59f0d97e35dfa7925b77887f412\/c%3D0-43-517-335%26r%3Dx329%26c%3D580x326\/local\/-\/media\/2016\/04\/05\/USATODAY\/USATODAY\/635954154261969729-map.jpg?resize=580%2C326\" alt=\"An image of JetSuiteX's initial route map.\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" data-mycapture-src=\"http:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/media\/2016\/04\/05\/USATODAY\/USATODAY\/635954154261969729-map.jpg\" \/>An image of JetSuiteX&#8217;s initial route map.\u00a0<span class=\"credit\">(Photo: JetSuiteX)<\/span><\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>JetSuiteX\u2019s inaugural route will operate within California, connecting Burbank\u2019s Bob Hope Airport to Concord\u2019s Buchanan Field, located about 30 miles east of downtown San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>JetSuiteX says its initial\u00a0schedule of up to two daily round-trip flights will give Concord its first scheduled passenger service since the early 1990s, when USAir discontinued the Concord\u00a0service it inherited via its merger with Pacific Southwest Airlines.<\/p>\n<p>The next JetSuiteX route will begin April 22, with weekend-only service between Concord\u00a0and Las Vegas. On\u00a0June 30 JetSuiteX begins flying its third announced route, offering up four flights a week between Mineta San Jose International Airport and Bozeman, Mont.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"border: 2px solid navy; padding: 10px; margin: 5px; clear: both; float: right; width: 155px; text-align: center;\"><em>JetSuite and it&#8217;s full charter fleet are available\u00a0in <a href=\"http:\/\/flightlistpro.com\">FlightList PRO<\/a>, in both the Operator\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/flightlistpro.com\/floating-fleet.php\">Floating Fleets<\/a>\u00a0sections.<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>While JetSuite\u2019s private-jet charters have so\u00a0far been\u00a0flown\u00a0on smaller 4- and 6-seat aircraft, its JetSuiteX &#8220;public charter&#8221; service will be\u00a0on newly acquired Embraer E135 regional jets. The company has 10 on order, all of which previously flew for American\u2019s American Eagle affiliate before being returned to Brazilian jetmaker Embraer.<\/p>\n<p>But Wilcox says customers won\u2019t mistake JetSuiteX&#8217;s\u00a0E135s for a planes flying\u00a0typical domestic airline\u00a0feeder flights.<\/p>\n<p>JetSuiteX has completely revamped the interior of the aircraft, configuring them with 30 seats. All have at least 36 inches of \u201cseat pitch,\u201d a standard industry measure of personal space. That, says JetSuiteX, is comparable to business class service on domestic carriers.<\/p>\n<p>Overhead bins have been removed to create a more spacious feel to the cabin. The cabin interior is also wrapped in a leather finish.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There\u2019s no plastic in the cabin anymore,&#8221; Wilcox says. &#8220;It\u2019s all leather sidewalls like a private jet would have.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Also onboard will be free in-flight Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment that fliers can stream on their personal devices.<\/p>\n<p>JetSuiteX says new destinations will come online as more of its specially configured E135s are delivered.
